INDIANAPOLIS, August 4, 2021 — Abacus Racing announced today that it will be fielding the No. 57 entry in its USAC National Midget Series debut at the BC39 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 18-19. The team, established by Team Principal Brent Cox, is headquartered in Indianapolis and will be sponsored by Cox, Beckman, Goss & Company, Indy Custom Stone, Ambre Blends and Viva Tia Maria.

Making her debut for Abacus Racing is Macdoel, California native Maria Cofer, the first female RBO 250 Champion (2014-2015). At just 22 years old, Cofer has already established herself as a driver to watch. Her list of accomplishments includes securing back to back BCRA Championships (2017/2018) and currently being tied for most USAC main event wins at Petaluma (CA) Speedway. She was chosen for the 2018 TRD Combine and Cofer was the first female driver to win an official event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway when she won a heat race on September 5, 2018 during the 2018 BC39.

“I can’t wait to get back to the dirt track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 18,” said Cofer. “Brent [Cox] has put together a great team and I’m really looking forward to our first race. This is a great opportunity and it will be exciting to see how the team develops in our first year. We’re running several races this season with Abacus Racing and I certainly think we’ll be a force to contend with right away.”

Abacus Racing also plans to run the last seven races in this year’s USAC National Midget Series. The livery and sponsorship announcements and specific plans for those races will be coming after its debut at the BC39.

“We’re really looking forward to the team’s first race in two weeks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” said Brent Cox, Team Principal, Abacus Racing. “I couldn’t think of a better backdrop to make my official foray into being a team owner than at this historic track. We’ve been able to put together a great team with great sponsors and I think Maria is going to be an ideal fit with our program. We’re definitely excited to see what she can do behind the wheel and the BC39 should be a lot of fun.”

Other sponsors for the BC39 are: Prime 47 – Indy’s Steakhouse, Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery, O’Reilly’s Irish Bar & Restaurant, Ice Barn, KLH Audio, Zirkle Advisors, Guy Co. Homes & Remodeling, Business Art Designs, Tule Vista Ranches and Shining Cross Performance Horses.

Brent Cox is the Managing Partner at Cox, Beckman, Goss & Company, a certified public accounting and business consulting firm in Indianapolis. The Portsmouth, Virginia native is a graduate of Ball State University and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He grew up in Anderson, Indiana and currently resides in Indianapolis with his wife and family.
