HAMPTON, Ga. (05/24/21) – Ashton Winger finally shook the monkey off his back on Saturday night. The driver of the E-Z-GO No. 12 Dekalb / Johnny Doan Plumbing/ Keyser Manufacturing/ Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model claimed the $4,044 top prize in Saturday night’s Roscoe Smith Classic at Senoia Raceway.

Winger’s first win of the season came in Southern All Star Series-sanctioned action in the 11th edition of the event. “We’ve raced like 30 times this year and it’s hard not to get emotional,” Winger said in Victory Lane. “I’ve had the time of my life the past two years and it’s really, really been tough this year on us. We just haven’t had a lot go our way … But this feels so awesome. I want to thank my family, my team, and all of my sponsors for standing behind me and making this possible.”

On Saturday evening Ashton Winger invaded Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.), piloting his Johnny Doan Plumbing No. 12 Late Model in the Southern All Star Series-sanctioned Roscoe Smith Classic.

After leading the opening three circuits of the feature, Winger slid back to fifth but began closing on race-leader Michael Page as he dealt with lapped-traffic. Charging past Page on lap 27, Ashton ran away to register his first win of the season, which over Joseph Joiner, Austin Horton, Jay Scott, and Mike Collins. Winger crossed the finish line with a five-second margin to claim the $4,044 top prize.
