Mottville, MI – On a humid Saturday, Dinah Jean and Eric Mepyans each scored their first ever feature wins at the Historic Mottville Speedway while Derik Sturdivant increased his points lead with his fifth feature win of the season.

For Dinah Jean, it was a clean sweep as she claimed victory in all three races in the Outlaw FWD class. Travis Carteaux finished in the runner-up position in all three as well. In the 15-lap main, Dinah and Carteaux battled side by side for several laps before she motored ahead with a couple laps to go. Following the pair were Joe Lambright and Travis Petto.

Eric Mepyans has been the ‘brides-maid’ too many times to count so it was a very excited driver who took the gold in the 20 lap Hornet main. A hard charging Shane Barhydt was a close second ahead of Rodney Archer, JJ Brooks, Ivan Trent, Corey Birk, Terry Kline and Kirby Steward. In preliminary action, Archer claimed the pursuit win ahead of Barhydt and Brooks while Barhydt bested Brooks and Kline in the dash. In the first heat, it was again Barhydt taking the win over Mepyans and Birk while Archer came back to score the Consy heat win over Mepyans and Brooks.

Defending points champion, Derik Sturdivant picked up his fifth win of the season beating Bug Schisler and Shannon Alwine. Results were the same in the heat.

Action continues next Saturday with Outlaw FWD, Street Stocks and Hornets doing battle on the quarter mile asphalt oval. Gates open at 5 with racing starting at 6. July 31 is mid-season trophy night with all preliminary heat winners and the top 3 in A features receiving a trophy compliments of Merle Holden Insurance.
