Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club Books Tentative 2021 Shows at The BOS

By Jim Clarke

Weekly short track race fans enjoy seeing familiar faces battle it out on familiar turf. Since 2009, Brockville Speedway has been one of the featured venues for the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club. Even the term ‘tentative’ is included in reference to the dates, the group has announced plans to stage a half-dozen shows at the popular 3/8th mile oval on Temperance Lake Road.

“It would be great to be able to run shows on both sides of the border the way we’ve done in the past but we have to take provincial restrictions into consideration,” said tour race director Steve Billings. “There’s no telling how long things might take to get the official go ahead so for the time being, the schedule will remain written in pencil instead of being carved in stone.”

Billings says drivers and race teams are thankful to track owner Paul Kirkland and the promotional partners at Brockville Speedway for offering the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club a chance to shine for 6 dates during the 2021 schedule. Shows kick-off May 22nd and continue June 26th, July 24th, August 7th and September 4th. The finale will be Saturday, October 16th during the Northeast Fall Nationals.

“In addition to the Brockville events, we’re also looking at about a handful of EOVSCC nights at Cornwall Motor Speedway and a couple of green flags at Brighton,” said Billings. “If the border opens-up this summer, we’ve been invited to race at Evans Mills Speedway and perhaps a couple of other tracks on the U.S. side. We’re looking to have as many dates as possible confirmed over the next few weeks.”

The abbreviated 2020 schedule saw teams run the Vintage Super Series, presented by Steve Polite Sand & Gravel with Kayla Charland taking the 50’s/60’s title and Jason Powers capturing the 70’s/80’s division. At the Vintage Fall Showdown – presented by Cornwall Motor Speedway and McColman Media – Kayla Charland won the 50’s/60’s crown, while Randy Gaudet took the 70’s/80’s class honours.

2021 events for the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club will be sponsored by Fat Les’s Chip Stand and Steve Polite Sand & Gravel. Fans can follow the tour throughout the year via its Facebook social media platform.
