GOOD OVERALL WEEKEND FOR THE SCHEEL BOYS, AND A FEATURE WIN FOR THE #8!

GOOD OVERALL WEEKEND FOR THE SCHEEL BOYS, AND A FEATURE WIN FOR THE #8! ( Mark Melchiori Photos)

Story By: Crystal Scheel
The race weekend started Friday night at Madison International Speedway, the night had a slow start but gained intensity as the night went on! Shaun in the Griffin Ford/ Wagner Construction #8 would qualify in 7th and Stephen in the #4, 9th! Stephen had a great battle in the front of the heat race, it came down to just inches at the line placing 2nd to the #19, and Shaun placing 4th! Both boys would be ready for the feature, the #4 took the early lead until the caution came out on lap 1, putting the cars single fill on the restart! With his brother in the #8 sitting in 3rd he took the green flag again and ran away! By lap 10 Shaun cleared the #14 and started to gain ground on his brother ahead of him when the caution came out with just 8 to go! The field would take the cone and stack back up two by two, Stephen in the first row inside with big brother just behind him! The #4 and #7 would take the green coming off turn 4 and it was a fight to the finish throughout the Top 5 cars, bumping and banging down the backstretch with two to go! The boys kept in it and stayed strong and were still able to finish 2nd (Stephen) & 3rd (Shaun)! Great job to both you boys you did awesome! :]

Then onto our Saturday night at the Action Track Jefferson Speedway, which started with a rain delay. Would like to say awesome job done by Terry Tucker and his whole staff for keeping the show moving and getting the whole night of racing in!

Shaun Scheel in his Griffin Ford/ Wagner Construction sponsored #8 had a great night! Qualified in 3rd out of 20 cars in the Late Model Division! In the heat, he didn’t have much of anywhere to go and finished 4th! When feature time rolled around he was ready to go, starting 4th row inside! The green flag waved and off they went, Shaun went to work, steadily making his way thru the pack and by lap 22 had made it up to 3rd! Once he cleared the #4 and made it into 2nd he then had to make his way thru the lap traffic that held him up giving the #77 more of a lead, but that wasn’t going to stop Shaun! He slipped past the lapped cars and began to gain a little ground on the #77 when the caution came out with just 8 laps to go! Everyone was on the edge of their seats, these two have battled it out before with some good hard racing so this was going to be a good finish! The green flag flew and they were off again, Shaun trailing the #77 and not letting him slip away! Shaun moved to the inside of the #77 just a lap later and they fought side by side until the #77 decide to sneak to the inside making the #8 go up into the outside grove, still fighting side by side on the last lap Shaun was able to get a really good run into turn 3 and pull the #77 off the last corner by a nose to cross the checkers first at the line! Great job Shaun, such a good race! :]

Stephen Scheel in his Dunnisen Excavating/ Copperhead Contracting #4 had a pretty good night too for the most part, qualifying 9th out of 20 cars. He took control of the heat race pretty quick and didn’t look back, giving him his 2nd Heat win so far this season at Jefferson! Nice job Stephen! In the feature, he took the early lead and was pretty strong for 25 laps, but then the car was getting a little free making him loose a little ground on the other cars. He was running good in the Top 5 with just 8 to go when unfortunately contact was made with the #15 and Stephen spun bringing out the caution, on the restart he would have some problems in the steering but was still determined to finish strong! With less than 10 to go he raced his way back up to the Top 10 with 10th in this week’s 50 Lap Feature! Good job not giving up Stephen, better luck for next week!

NEXT WEEKEND
Friday night we will be returning to Madison International Speedway, it being kids night there will be a $1000 coin toss on the track! Races start at 730pm! And Saturday we will be back to Jefferson Speedway, qualifying at 5pm and racing at 7pm SHARP!
Don’t miss out, both tracks have been putting on a pretty good show past couple weeks, as always!
