(Lebanon, IN) The Day Transportation Mel Kenyon Midget Series made its inaugural visit to Circle City Raceway Saturday night with Jack Macenko scoring his first victory on dirt.  Located on the grounds of the Marion County Fair on the east side of Indianapolis, the facility received high marks from both the Day Transportation Kenyon Midget competitors and officials.

Two 10-lap qualifying races set the field for the 30-lap feature with the qualifier winners Macenko and Nathan Foster on the front row.  At the green Macenko jumped to a car length lead over Foster.  Foster quickly started working Macenko for the top spot, briefly taking the point several times in turns three and four only to see Macenko out drag him from the high side to hold onto the lead at the stripe.

Foster grabbed first place in turn three of lap six and held on for one lap.

Macenko returned to favor and regained the lead on lap seven.  Foster broke an axle and lost his left front wheel bringing out the race’s only caution on lap 11.

Through the mid-portion of the race Macenko opened up a 4-car length lead on the field.  Series point leader Ayrton Houk picked his way up to second spot from his 7th place starting position.

Houk engaged Macenko in a battle for the win with 8 laps to go.  Macenko used just about every move in his book to hold off Houk’s repeated attempts at making the pass.  In addition to chasing Macenko, Houk had to fend off repeated attempts from 2020 Series Champion Colin Grissom to move into the second spot.

When the checkers finally flew, Macenko picked up the win over Houk by 0.958 with Grissom following Houk by just 0.313 of a second.

Trey Osborn and Logan Huggler rounded out the top five.

The Day Transportation reruns to action Saturday September 18th on the High banks of Anderson Speedway.
