Andrew Morrissey Hopes to Make a Statement at 50th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend

After the checkered flag fell on the 2018 Oktoberfest 200 at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin, Andrew Morrissey sat in the tech area waiting for his car to be inspected after finishing fourth on the track.

As he waited his turn, one by one the competitors who finished ahead of him were disqualified for various infractions.  After his car was inspected, he was officially declared the winner of the big race highlighting the 49th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend.

For the Deforest, Wisconsin driver, having his name on the list of Oktoberfest race winners is a big highlight of his career.  The win was emotional for the veteran driver as he fought back tears realizing the victory was his while holding the trophy on the victory stage in 2018.

“It’s still kind of hard to believe we won the race,” Morrissey recently said. “The way it happened wasn’t the greatest, so I would like to go back this year and do it on the track.”

The 2011 ARCA Midwest Tour champion has won many events across the Midwest including the Joe Shear Classic in 2012 and 2017 at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, WI and Thunderstuck 93 at Elko Speedway in Elko, Minnesota in 2013.  He captured the Cabin Fever 100 last season at State Park Speedway in Wausau, Wisconsin.

His family have been coming to the famous Oktoberfest Race Weekend for many years.  His father Charlie has always been on his side while his mother Jane cheered from the stands.

“Oktoberfest is the biggest race for us around here or any way for that matter for me personally,” Morrissey said. “It would be huge for us to go back and win that race this year, especially with all of the pride and prestige that goes with it.”

Morrissey will not only be competing in the ARCA Midwest Tour’s Oktoberfest 200 on Saturday, October 5th and Sunday, October 6th, but will also compete in the Dick Trickle 99 presented by JE Pistons on Friday, October 4th at the 50th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin.

“I am looking forward to heading back to La Crosse this year, especially with my car being on the advertising for the event,” Morrissey said. “It’s an honor to see that and I hope we can go and celebrate again this year.”
