PLACERVILLE, Calif. – Tanner Carrick claimed the 35 lap Sprint Car Challenge Series opener Spring Fever Frenzy at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night. The dominating Lincoln, California 19 year old led the entire distance on the historic Hangtown track from his front row starting spot in his familiar No. 83T.

Sean Becker recovered to claim the runner up spot ahead of Chase Majdic, Willie Croft and Kalib Henry. Fourteen of the original 24 starting field survived the contest which saw three red flag stoppages and a number of caution period slowdown.

Several drivers took aim at the smooth and fast running Carrick but most feel victim to nodus. Besides Becker, first Justin Sanders who was running third at the time, spun in the second turn after making contact with the car ahead of him. Sanders would rejoin the tail of the field.

Next Justyn Cox who rim rode his way into second, spun in the third turn which nearly the entire field having to avoid the mostly solid black colored car crossed up on the track. Ryan Bernal would also suffer from the second place running full moon night jinx when he spun over the second turn cushion. Bernal would also rejoin the race after stopping in the work area for repairs.

And just like that Becker was back up to the challenging spot however as hard as he tried the outside groove, a fast and steady Carrick went on to claim his first ever SCCT Series win.
