If sports suddenly witness a rapid rise in popularity, we have to thank streaming services. Shows like Formula One: Drive to Survive, the All or Nothing Series, The Test, and more have helped attract new fans. Now, NASCAR is going to be the next to jump on the bandwagon.

However, the stock car racing series is veering in a different trajectory. While the above-mentioned shows offer a sneak peek into the respective sports, this new series is heading into sitcom territory.

Actor and comedian, Kevin James unveiled the trailer for the new series, titled, ‘The Crew’. This show is expected to debut on Netflix on February 15th, a day after the 2021 Daytona 500.

The NASCAR sitcom on Netflix looks like fun

James plays the role of a NASCAR Crew Chief for the Bobby Spencer Racing team. The official synopsis says that the team owner stepped down and his daughter has taken over the reins. From there, she is trying to revamp and modernize the whole team, but James and his crew resist heavily.

At first glance, the show plays like a typical situational comedy, except with a NASCAR flavor. Admittedly, not much more information is available, aside from the main synopsis. So, nobody knows if there will be any gratuitous cameos from real-life NASCAR crew, officials, or drivers themselves.

Aside from Kevin James, other actors include Freddie Stroma, Sarah Stiles, Gary Anthony Williams, Dan Ahdoot. The show also features guest stars, Paris Berelc, and Bruce McGill.

There is no word on whether any new seasons are on the horizon. On the other side of the fence, the prospect of a new season depends on how successful the pilot season is.
