NEW V-6 CLASS TO TACKLE THE “ROVAL” AT WIR IN 2020

(Thursday Night Thunder lid lifter slated for May 21, 2020)

The “Rockin’ Roval” V-6 division will be an added attraction during “Thursday Night Thunder” action at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna in 2020.

This new, affordable division is geared towards getting new blood into racing at a very low cost in the ultimate “Gut it and Go” class. The Fox River Racing Club, the organization that promotes weekly racing at WIR, is so adamant that this class won’t empty your wallet that they’ve implemented a $300 claim on the whole car/truck/minivan.

“Basically if it did not come from the factory floor completely stock it won’t be allowed,” said FRRC president Kurt Schweitzer. “We want this to be a fun division where someone can go get Grandma’s old Bonneville out and go have some fun!”

One 10 lap feature will be run at the end of the ¼ mile class heat races. The lap will consist of turns one and two on the ¼ mile, into the back half of the X, back out through turns 3 and 4, then a loop around the flagpole after the start-finish line. Cars MUST stay on paved surfaces at all time or will be disqualified and required to do lawn maintenance/track repairs before the next event.

The FRRC has announced its 2020 season opening “Thursday night Thunder” race at WIR will take place Thursday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The weekly Thursday night show has consistently boasted one of the highest weekly super late model car counts in the Midwest. The super late models will be back weekly, along with late models on the half-mile. On the quarter-mile the ¼ mile late models will be back along with super stocks, sport trucks, Sizzlin’4’s a Pavement Pounder dirt sportmod special and the Figure 8’s.
